Bush Protects Ocean

President Bush set aside the largest swath of ocean ever, designating a series of islands in the Western Pacific as a national monument. The area is bigger than the state of California, and includes the Marrianna Trench, the deepest ocean canyon on Earth. As a national monument the area will be protected against fishing, mining and tourism development.
