GeoEye-1 Delayed by Hurricane Hanna
imagery September 2nd, 2008The launch of the Geo-Eye-1 satellite has now been delayed due to Hurricane Hanna. This company can’t seem to catch a break on the launch date as my understanding is that the satellite has been ready for some time, but that launch dates have been hard to come by. Now, the delay is due to the declaration of HURCON 4 (Hurricane Condition 4) in Florida and the lack of available launch personnel for the Vandenberg Air Force, Calif. launch.
There apparently aren’t that many trained launch personnel, given the fact that the launch is in California, but crews based in Florida are staying put. I, like many, am eagerly awaiting this satellite launch, and look forward to the updated launch date when it becomes available.
