We spent two hectic days on the tradeshow floor of InterGeo. The mix of vendors from all corners of the spatial world was of huge interest to me. There should be more venues where surveyors, CAD users, GIS users, cartographers and photogrammetrists all meet in one place.

We live in a time where integration and tool convergence is necessary and greatly beneficial. I think the time is right for more interaction between these user groups, and I was glad to see a wide user base represented at InterGeo.

There is very little education at this event, and the sessions that exist are in the German language, which unfortunately I don’t speak. I understand the tradeshow-centric concept, but frankly missed a keynote message or conference sessions that would serve toward bringing the disparate user groups together.

The size and vibrancy of the crowd at this event helped affirm the interest and relevance of this industry in the European market. I felt that I gained a great deal of insight into some worldwide trends in the geospatial market. Read more of our impressions here.
