Jeremy Crampton sent me a note to let me know that the latest issue of Cartographica has an interview of Avi Bar-Zeev, co-founder of Keyhole (the precursor to Google Earth). The interview conducted by Crampton delves into Bar-Zeev’s history with 3D worlds, including his involvement in the design of Second Life and Disney Imagineering projects.

There’s a great discussion of the connection between GIS and these worlds. There’s also mention of how Al Gore’s vision of a Digital Earth influenced the development of Google Earth.

You can read the interview here (PDF Download). Avi Bar-Zeev also blogs regularly at RealityPrime.
