NASA and JAXA Team on Global Precipitation Monitoring Effort
climate change, earth observation, sensor web August 2nd, 2009NASA and JAXA are building on the successful partnership of the Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) for the Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) mission. GPM will begin the measurement of global precipitation, a key climate factor, as part of the broader Global Earth Observation System of Systems.
The heart of the GPM mission is a space-borne observatory that unifies measurements from a constellation of multinational research and operational satellites carrying microwave sensors. GPM will provide uniformly calibrated precipitation measurements globally every 2 to 4 hours.
