NASA’s CO2 Mapping Satellite Readied for Launch
climate change, earth observation December 18th, 2008NASA will launch the Orbiting Carbon Observatory (OCO) in late February from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. The satellite’s mission will be to map carbon dioxide concentrations close to the Earth’s surface. Measurements will be taken in the atmosphere, oceans and land to help determine the role of CO2 on weather, climate and natural hazards.
