Russia Plans to Launch a Series of Earth Observation Satellites
earth observation, sensor web March 8th, 2009The Russian Space Agency is at work on a series of KANOPUS earth observation satellites set to launch in late 2009 or early 2010. The satellites are being developed to monitor agriculture, water and coastal resources as well as to study the possibility of earthquake prediction from a satellite platform. Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd. has delivered the first sensors for the project. The satellite imagery will be at a resolution of 2.1m panchromatic as well as 10.5m multispectral.
