University of Washington Continues Innovation
education, sustainability September 23rd, 2008I previously reported about the new College of the Environment at the University of Washington. Today, there’s news that the College of Architecture and Urban Planning will change its name to the College of Built Environments.
“The choice recognizes our unique intellectual and professional engagement with complex realities of the constructed world. As designers, planners, scholars and builders, we directly influence the health, safety and aesthetic vitality of homes, workplaces, neighborhoods and cities,” said Dean Daniel Friedman.
This realignment appears to embrace sustainable development, and the notion that our built environments must better align with the planet’s environment.
